Join Park Interpreter Ashley to learn all the basics you will need to embark on your first backpacking trip while hiking a portion of the Ozark Highlands Trail. As we hike, we will also learn about the seven principles of Leave No Trace and discover how to make outdoor spaces better for everyone! Focusing on just one sense during a hike help you experience Crowley’s Ridge State Park in a whole new way! Join a park interpreter for a guided sensory hike of Lake Ponder Trail. This program helps fulfill the requirements for the Brownie Senses badge. We will hike the 0.5-mile, flat, paved, Lake Ponder Trail. Please wear weather-appropriate shoes and clothing along with bringing plenty of water. Admission is free, but registration is required. Various trees that grow in Crowley’s Ridge State Park are essential to the lives of animals, the enjoyment of park visitors, and the history of the park. What are some of the trees that grow here? Pick up a Tree ID scavenger hunt at the visitor center to guide your identification of some of these trees. Discover the connection between trees and people at the back of the scavenger hunt.
