Our mission is to provide a professional staff of Arkansas State Employees who maintain and improve the readiness of Arkansas National Guard units, through fiscal management of State Resources, Human Resources Management, and quality administration of the Arkansas National Guard programs. • Promote AR National Guard individual and unit readiness through effective utilization of State Resources. • Provide excellent customer service. Major General Jonathan M. Stubbs

MG Jonathan Stubbs began his military career in 1993 upon enlistment in Company A, 4-117th Infantry Battalion in Lexington, Tennessee as a private first class (PFC). In 1995, he was commissioned as an Infantry officer after completing Officer Candidate School as the Distinguished Graduate at the Tennessee Military Academy.

MG Stubbs is a career Army National Guard officer and has spent over 27 of his 29 years in uniform with the Arkansas Army National Guard. He has held every leadership position within the 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) from rifle platoon leader (2nd Lieutenant) to brigade commander (Colonel). MG Stubbs led Company C, 3-153 Infantry during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) II in Baghdad, Iraq in 2004-2005 and served as the 39th IBCT operations officer in OIF VIII in Baghdad, Iraq in 2008.

MG Stubbs also served as an Active-Guard Reserve (AGR) officer in the Arkansas Army National Guard from 1997 to 2021. During that time, he was placed in a myriad of training, operations, and administrative assignments at the battalion, regiment, brigade, and state levels. His culminating AGR staff assignment was as the Chief of Staff for the Arkansas Army National Guard.

In September 2021 he was selected for promotion to brigadier general and assigned as the Vice Director for Operations at the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, Virginia. In January 2022, MG Stubbs was assigned as the Deputy Director for Operations, Readiness, and Mobilization at Headquarters, Department of the Army, the Pentagon. In January 2023, MG Stubbs was selected for promotion to major general and was appointed by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders as the 54th Adjutant General of Arkansas.

He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Infantry Captain’s Career Course, the Combined Arms Services and Staff School, all phases of the Command and General Staff College, the resident U.S. Army War College (Class of 2013), the Brigade Pre-Command Course, and the Advanced Strategic Education Program for brigadier generals.

His civilian education includes a bachelor’s degree in History from Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee, and a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the USAWC at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania.

His decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Valorous Unit Award, 3 awards of the Legion of Merit, two awards of the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, 6 awards of the Meritorious Service Medal, 8 awards of the Army Commendation Medal, and various other individual and unit service awards.

MG Stubbs is married to the former Jane Berry of Dewitt, Arkansas. They have two children; Susannah, 25, who is an English teacher at North Little Rock High School; and Samuel, 16, who is a high school sophomore and Boy Scout. They also have a German Shepherd named Major. The Stubbs family will always call Searcy, Arkansas home.
