The Public Transportation Programs Section of the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has announced its proposed State Management Plan (SMP) for federally assisted transit agencies within Federal Fiscal Years 2027 through 2029. (October 1, 2026 – September 30, 2029).
The purpose of a SMP in transportation is to detail ARDOT’s objective for administering Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grants. It ensures the transparent, equitable, and federally compliant distribution of public transit funds to local entities and subrecipients.
In addition to serving as a guiding document for state transit programs, the SMP acts as the primary reference for the federal government to conduct compliance and management reviews.
The plan will be available for a 30-day public review period, which concludes on July 12, 2026. The report may be accessed online at https://ardot.gov/divisions/local-programs/public-transportation-programs/publications/
ARDOT encourages all interested parties to submit written comments on the SMP.
