Purpose of the Project

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is proposing to rehabilitate Gee Creek Birdge (Job A80049) and the Historic Big Piney Creek Bridge (A80048) to extend the bridge’s service life and improve safety for the traveling public.

Gee Creek Bridge along Highway 123 will be rehabilitated to facilitate the movement of equipment and materials for the Big Piney Creek Bridge project. The rehabilitation project for Gee Creek Bridge will require two short-term closures., approximately 3 days each. The first closure is expected to begin in early July followed by a second closure in early August 2026.

The Big Piney Creek Bridge rehabilitation will require extended closure of approximately 14 weeks with a detour. The work is expected to begin early August, once the Gee Creek Bridge is complete.

These dates are preliminary and subject to change. Traffic will be controlled by digital message boards, construction barrels and signage to notify and direct motorists.

Website availability begins July 13, 2026 and ends at 4:30 p.m. on October 30, 2026.
