The Arkansas State Police Commission, during a meeting today, approved three promotion recommendations presented for consideration by Colonel Bill Bryant, state police director.
Captain David Lafferty, 60, of Garland County was promoted to major and will assume the senior command rank within the Criminal Investigation Division. The division is comprised of six companies located across the state and specialized investigative units headquartered at Little Rock state police administrative headquarters.
Major Lafferty is 32 year veteran of the state police and most recently served as CID assistant commander.
Corporal Brandon Bennett, 37, of Mississippi County, was promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be assigned to the Highway Patrol Division, Troop D as a post supervisor. Troop D is headquartered at Forrest City.
Sergeant Bennett is an 11 year veteran of the department and has been assigned recently to Troop C headquartered at Jonesboro.
Corporal Brandon Lofton, 37, of Saline County, was promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be assigned to the Highway Patrol Division, Troop G as a post supervisor. Troop G is headquartered at Hope.
Sergeant Lofton is an 11 year veteran of the department and has been assigned recently to Regulatory and Building Services Division headquartered at Little Rock.
