MARION AND BAXTER COUNTIES | July 8, 2026

The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) will close Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, and Friday, July 10.

Weather permitting, Highway 178 will close across Bull Shoals Dam for routine dam maintenance. The closure has been coordinated with local emergency management officials and law enforcement agencies.

Travel to locations on Highway 178 north of the Bull Shoals Dam closure will require a detour using Highway 178 through Lakeview to Highway 5 south through Midway, to Highway 126 south through Gassville, to Highway 412 west through Flippin, and back to Highway 178 through the town of Bull Shoals.

Travel to locations on Highway 178 south of the Bull Shoals Dam closure will use the opposite detour: Highway 178 through Bull Shoals to Highway 412 east through Flippin, to Highway 126 north through Gassville, to Highway 5 north through Midway, back to Highway 178.
