ASHLEY COUNTY (7-30) – Construction to widen Highway 425 in Ashley County requires lane closures this week on the highway, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, northbound and southbound lanes on Highway 425 will alternately be closed between mile markers 3 and 4, north of the Arkansas-Louisiana state line. The single-lane closures will primarily be used during overnight hours Monday, August 2 through Friday, August 6.
Traffic will be controlled by flagging operations and a pilot car, signage, and construction barrels. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds. Areas adjacent to the Interstate may experience construction lights and noise impacts during nighttime hours.
This project (Job CA0201) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening approximately 10 miles of Highway 425 to four lanes with a center paved median, from the Louisiana state line to the intersection with Highway 82. More information on this $44.6 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on Twitter @myARDOT.
