HOT SPRINGS (10-8) – Hot Springs officials will gather to officially break ground on the widening of Highway 270, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

On Tuesday, October 12 at 11:00 a.m., members of the Arkansas Highway Commission will join the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Pat McCabe, ARDOT staff, and local area officials to turn dirt for the highway improvements.

The project will widen one and a half miles of Highway 270 to four travel lanes with a center turn lane. Bike lanes along the route and improvements to the interchange of Highways 270 and 227 are included in the project.

The public is welcome to attend the event, but seating is limited.

Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on Twitter @IDriveArkansas for traffic and @myARDOT for everything else.
