Excess Proceeds are funds collected through the sale of tax delinquent properties in Arkansas. These funds consist of the sale price exceeding the amount of taxes, penalties and interest due at the time of sale. After the sale, the funds are held in escrow for one year. After the one year escrow period expires, the record owner at time of sale may apply for distribution of the excess proceeds. For parcels sold after July 1, 2005, through June 30, 2018, funds are available for claim for three years. For parcels sold after July 1, 2018, funds are held available for two years. If the funds are not collected during the time period pertaining to the specific parcel, they are returned to the county in which the property is located.
