State Board of Collection Agencies

The Arkansas State Board of Collection Agencies (ASBCA) regulates collection agency activities in Arkansas. Collection agencies must be licensed if: (1) they are located in Arkansas or (2) they contact Arkansas residents. ASBCA works to protect Arkansans who are being contacted by collection agencies, as well as creditors who entrust their accounts to collection agencies. It is our goal to prevent unethical collection activities, ensure compliance with Arkansas debt collection laws, and educate Arkansas residents of their rights when dealing with a collection agency. ASBCA investigates complaints of unfair or unconscionable collection practices, prohibited collection charges, and un-licensed activity. In 2019, ASBCA joined the Department of Labor and Licensing.
